Learning from failure
I'm a self-taught software developer. After 7 years of building on the side, shipping 5+ projects, and only making $100 total revenue, I decided to quit my $7k/mo dev job and go all-in on chasing my indie hacker dream. I learned from those failed projects: B2C productivity tools have lower LTV, higher churn, and more expensive acquisition channels. One-time-payment B2B platforms are also hard to bootstrap without large distribution. So I chose to build a B2B recurring revenue tool solving a recurring pain point. I noticed Reddit marketing tools were already making money, no giant competitors dominated the space. I built a waitlist landing page, DMed users, got 30 waitlist signups, then started building the MVP: Bazzly, a Reddit marketing tool for SaaS founders.
Who is it for?

Not for
Building the product
I shipped the MVP within one month. Being a technical founder, AI gave me a big advantage to ship fast and build quality software. Initially, the running costs were extremely low: I used free Supabase and Vercel plans to host my server, and cheap or free plans for other tools like email. For the stack, I used the tech I'm most comfortable with: Next.js for frontend, Supabase for DB, Node.js for backend.
Simplify your pricing
When I first started, I offered three plans: $19, $39, and $99. Then, we eliminated our cheaper plans, repositioned with a single $99 plan, and our revenue increased significantly. Users can also top up credits for more usage. These one-time payments within the app drive $2.5k in monthly expansion revenue.

Three growth phases
Here were the growth phases: $0 → $100: I spent six months talking to users daily, lowered churn from 43% to 25% and pushed past $100 MRR. $100 → $1k: I doubled down on marketing, growing from $100 to $1k in just two months, using Reddit, X, and Indie Hackers as distribution channels. $1k → $5k: I brought in a 50% equity partner, repositioned Bazzly from a Reddit marketing tool to a full autopilot Reddit acquisition system, and grew from $1k to $5k MRR in two months.
Core Growth Insights
My top growth advice is: expanding distribution is overrated. The highest leverage move is improving your product funnel to convert existing channels better. I lifted trial → paid conversion from 30.77% to 52.63%, and with the same marketing effort, I almost doubled my growth. My four unfair advantages: optimize your life around your goal to avoid burnout, build in public, build repeatable systems not one-off spikes, never stop learning.

Advice for Indie Founders
My advice: Solve a recurring pain point, validate distribution before you build, launch fast but nail onboarding, talk to users 1:1, fix churn before scaling, find your funnel bottlenecks first, stack new channels on top of what works. My next goal is to reach $10k MRR, then expand Bazzly into an AI system that brings qualified traffic to SaaS companies.

7 years, 5 failed projects, $100 total revenue — and still didn't quit. That alone is worth more than any strategy. The shift from three pricing plans to one single $99 plan increasing revenue is something most founders would never have the courage to do.
I spent months building an enterprise-grade Next.js template with 446 automated tests, but completely ignored distribution. Now I'm fighting the exact bottleneck you described.
"Expanding distribution is overrated" hits hard. Most founders chase new channels when their existing funnel is still leaking, more traffic just goes to waste.
